ARA-290 (cibinetide) is an 11-amino-acid peptide engineered from the helix B region of erythropoietin. Unlike EPO it has no effect on red blood cell production — it binds the innate repair receptor (a heterocomplex of EPOR and CD131) on injured tissue, which triggers an anti-inflammatory and pro-repair signalling cascade. It holds FDA Orphan Drug designation for sarcoidosis-associated neuropathic pain.
