Epitalon (also spelled Epithalon) is a synthetic tetrapeptide — Ala-Glu-Asp-Gly — modelled on a fragment of the bovine pineal extract epithalamin. It was developed at the St. Petersburg Institute of Bioregulation and Gerontology by Vladimir Khavinson. The hypothesised mechanism is upregulation of telomerase activity and modulation of pineal melatonin output.
